Autumn Winter 2010

Just seen on the Kickers facebook page what they've got lined up for a/w 10. Perhaps a bit to late on the lace up boot? But need to find myself a small child in time to dress them in these adorable boots!

Kickers wants you!

Shoe mags.

Yesterday i bought a couple of shoe and mens magazines to help us along with the Kickers research. I get GQ every month as i'm abit menswear obsessed and it just so hapenned to have a shoes pull out. The other magazine i bought was one i've actually never heard of before but really enjoyed reading it, called Shoes Up. It had some really interesting interviews and really nice graphics. Sadly, neither of these magazines had a slight mention of Kickers! What is going on? Where are Kickers going wrong? FMB to the rescue?

Old Kickers ad

Personal opinion -maybe just a bit too kitsch and 'euro' but it is over 2 years old so Kickers has gone in a different direction since then.

Online Advertising Stats.

When looking at new media in advertising, which is something we will have to consider in our Kickers communication strategy, I found this Mintel report 'Advertising and Marketing in New Media - UK - October 2009'.

It talks about how online advertising is growing rapidly and consumers are buying more online. It's a highly influentional media and Kickers should capitalise on the trend as well as using its 'rebellious' and 'cool' nature to communicate the Kickers brand personality.

Key Analysis: The opportunity for online advertising is that more adults are coming on-stream, and spending more time online every year. However, time spent does not equal engagement, which is an area of ever-increasing importance for brands that are looking for more measurable returns on their investments. The digital advertising world is working hard to establish universal metrics enabling clients to do so. -Mintel

Lots of shoes.

Some mens shoes that i'm particularly loving at the moment. The last pair of very Kickers-esque. All these photos were taken at NY fashion week and are taken from the GQ website.

What's the core?

AllAboutBranding.com

There's a great article here, about 'creating customer evangelists when nobody really gives a crap' that I thought was quite apt for Kickers!

It's about the idea that once consumers know where you're from, they want to know what your're about. Establishing a core to the brand and communicating this in the marketing and branding.

Kickers has a heritage in the music scene and it's something not being publicised to it's full advantage to the new generation of potential Kickers wearers.

The Website

Kickers own website is www.kickers.co.uk, which can be found here.

It is a transactional website, offering a wide range of Mens, Womens and Kids shoes as well as a selection of bags and purses. It is fairly simple, straightforward and professional. The design of the website communicates the Kickers style -red with the 'bubble' writing and use of the fleurette shape.

It does appear to be targeting a younger market or parents shopping for children with a 'Back to School' link and a 'Colour me in' page to do with the Lego collaboration >>see here.
